About

The Phoenix Ukulele Group

The Phoenix Ukulele Group brings together ukulele players in Phoenix, AZ. Whether you just bought your first ukulele, dusted off an old one, or have played for years, you’ll find a friendly, relaxed community to make music with others.

What We Do

In-Person Jams

We meet twice a month, most often at the Foothills Library in Glendale, for casual group play-alongs. We keep these jams low-pressure so everyone can sing and strum together.

Online Open Mics

Twice a month, we host Zoom open mics. You can lead a song, join a play-along, or quietly strum along with your mic muted while you build confidence. Even if you don’t live in the Phoenix area, you’re welcome to join us for some ukulele fun!

What Beginners Can Expect

We welcome brand-new players. You don’t need an audition, and there’s no pressure to play perfectly. Instead, we focus on playing as a group.

We give our members access to a digital library of thousands of chord charts. We display the chords and lyrics side by side on the big screen or share them digitally.

If a song throws a tricky new chord your way, just strum the beats you know, strum once at each chord change, or sit back and listen until you’re ready to jump back in. You don’t need to memorize any songs ahead of time.

Meet Our Group Leaders

Dee Holm leads our group, and Carmelo Walsh steps in when Dee is away. Both work hard to keep our jams welcoming, encouraging, and open to players of all skill levels.

Come Strum With Us

Grab your ukulele, and bring a music stand or tablet if you have one, we project songs onto a big screen. We’d love to have you strum along with us!
